Boat Shows As the restorations were coming to an end in 2009, I was able to start showing Isabella at the Detroit river, Lake St. Clair, and Port Huron area boat shows. I managed to get into the Detroit Yacht Club 2009 show at the last minute, and with mouldings and hardware attcthed with just enough screews to hold them on, we went on to win two awards that day.
With restoration still under way, I managed to make runs to a couple of 2010 Antique and Classic Boat Society shows. The first was the DYC Fathers Day antique car and boat show. After winning two awards the year before, I was obligated to defend. I didn't feel I would win anything though because of the double win in 2009. It was a wild suprise when Isabella's name was announced for the Vice Commodore's Award. The 2011 season was the best. Isabella was visually complete and the V-12 scripps was running like a very big watch. We made the four major boat shows of the year and took awards in all four. Isabella preformed beautifully without incident in all four runs and made it all worth it |
